TPS-384-E / TPS-384-EH Total Pipetting Solution™
In addition to all of these features of the standard TPS-384, these models feature an integrated enclosure. This allows the pipetting to take place in a controlled environment without the need for an expensive and space-consuming hood. This is an ideal solution for sensitive work such as PCR set-up, assay preparation where dust or other contaminants must be avoided, or work with hazardous solution.
These systems feature approximately 12 inches of working space within the hood environment that can be used for storage of labware and pipetting heads, or even for quick hand-pipetting operations.

The Total Pipetting Solution (TPS) represents a new generation of affordable liquid handling systems with the versatility and reliability required for today’s demanding laboratory environment. With the innovative Externally Sealed Pipette (ESP) tips, the TPS pipetting system surpasses its competition in terms of applications diversity and reliability. This powerful pipettor has a compact size that easily fits on laboratory benches and also can be placed in suitable laboratory hoods.
The TPS-384 uses Apricot Designs’ unique head design which employs high-precision manufacturing to produce reasonably priced heads that are independent of the pipetting mechanism. The TPS-384 electronically loads and unloads pipetting heads in a few seconds, allowing simple and easy set-up for the task at hand. The TPS-384 will automatically index the pipetting head if necessary for accessing 1536-well plates.
Automation
- The enclosure can be optionally modified for robotic
access and it can be integrated as part of an automation
workcell by combining it with laboratory automation software and robotics from Apricot’s sister company
Biosero, Inc. - The high-performance enclosure is based on technology from Bigneat, a leading manufacturer of safety cabinets, hazard containment systems, and clean air solutions.
Features
- Fully functional hood enclosure with built-in pipettor offers protection within a small footprint.
- Can be installed on the laboratory bench or on a supplied cart with locking wheels.
- Ducted “E” version installs with your laboratory’s
air removal system and is best suited for operator
protection from hazardous materials such as acids, organic solvents and particles. - Recirculating “EH” version includes a carbon filter and
a HEPA filter. The enclosure is positively pressurized
for protection of the contents and is best suited for cell based assays, PCR set-up, and other applications where protection of the samples is critical. - Approximately 12 inches of extra bench space are provided on the inside for storage of pipetting heads, labware, or even for quick handheld pipetting operations.
- Available for all TPS pipettors from Apricot Designs,
including the TPS-24, TPS-96, and TPS-384.
Options
- Customized versions are available for special requirements.
