384 channel pipettor accesses a 96-well plate

384 channel pipettors can also be used to pipette to 96-well plates. One way to do this is with a specially-made offset head. The offset head only uses one out of four tip positions (blue). This pattern allows access to all wells of a 96-well plate. In order to do this, the head or the plate must be slightly indexed so the tips are positioned directly over the wells of the 96-well plate. This is why the head is called "offset". The Apricot pipettor will take care of the offset indexing automatically. This allows a 384 channel pipettor to be used for pipetting operations to a 96-well plate, and also allows a 384 channel pipettor to perform plate reformatting from four 96-well plates to one 384-well plate, or from one 384-well plate to four 96-well plates. Press the Play button to see positioning of the offset head over a 96-well microplate. Press the rewind button to return.
